Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History is the largest museum in the world dedicated to natural history and one of the most popular museums in Washington, DC.

Founded in 1910, this prestigious museum is part of the Smithsonian Institution. It is located on the National Mall. The main building has four levels with nearly 40 exhibition halls and showrooms that house approximately 37 million specimens. There are also galleries for temporary exhibitions to showcase new discoveries made all around the world.

The museum also has an Earth Sciences Rock Hall that showcases minerals, gems, rocks and fossils; an Astronomical Observatory; a Research Library; administrative offices; five research collections; and ten specialized research laboratories.
