National Museum of African American History and Culture

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the 19th Smithsonian museum, and the first national museum devoted exclusively to African-American history.

The museum is dedicated to exploring the history and culture of African Americans with a focus on their contributions to American society.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a Smithsonian museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., near the Washington Monument.

The museum was designed by David Adjaye and opened to the public on September 24, 2016. It is located at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, in the area of Constitution Gardens east of the United States Capitol building. The museum has been called “the nation’s first national museum devoted exclusively to African American history and culture.”
